About RheumReferral
A free, independent resource to help the right patients reach rheumatology at the right time.
RheumReferral was created by Vivek Mehta, MBBS, a board-certified rheumatologist, to help with a problem every rheumatology service knows: long waits, and referral queues where urgent patients can sit behind problems that could have been managed locally.
The site has two parts. The referring-provider side helps clinicians decide whether and how urgently to refer, what to send, and what can be managed in primary care. The rheumatologist side supports triage teams, e-consult services and teaching, with downloadable tools.
How the content is written
- Every recommendation cites a guideline or peer-reviewed source, linked so it can be checked.
- Where guidelines differ, the site says so rather than picking a side silently.
- Language is deliberately hedged. Local pathways and clinical judgment come first, and the condition lists are a guide to common problems rather than a complete list.
